  • Broaden our customer base and develop a strong core of key customers.
  • Build a good reputation as a print provider.
  • Become a key player in the industry.
Background

Insane Signs are award winning grand format digital printers based in Cardiff, NSW. We are a family owned company who pride ourselves on our low prices, high quality and fast turnaround times. Based in Newcastle, we are now one of the premier digital print shops in Australia, armed with an extensive array of grand format digital printers — in fact we are the only sign shop between Sydney and Singapore with the print horsepower of both grand format and flat beds in our stable.

Strengths
  • We are Australia’s largest provider of digitally printed fence fabrics
  • All printing and finishing is done in house, giving us the ability to monitor quality control & oversee every aspect of the job.
  • We competed in an international competition with participants from Australia, China, India, and Japan and won an award for our work in Green Digital Printing, that included theatre backdrops for the Sydney Opera House.
  • We utilise two ink types comprising of UV or Latex, so no matter what the job we have an ink to suit the job requirements.
  • We have the option to use ink that is Greenguard Children and School Certified with a reduced odour, so it is perfect for indoor applications, and has an improved environmental profile. A recent independently conducted and reviewed study indicated that printing Point Of Sale signage on our Flat Bed Printer has a lower carbon footprint than producing the same signage with an equivalent screen printer.
  • There are less than a handful of companies in Australia that print on Shadecloth or what we call PolyShade, (this is a product we have custom made to our unique specifications) and we are No.1 in terms of volume and quality of shade cloth printed.
  • We employ a young, dynamic and energetic staff and have a can do philosophy which we apply daily to unique jobs, and sometimes tough deadlines.
Capabilities
  • We currently print a 40 foot shipping container of Shadecloth every 9-10 weeks, which equates to around 784 x 50m rolls.
  • We send out approx. 3 kilometres per day of shade cloth and mesh across Australia and New Zealand, with the capability to produce 5km of roll to roll print per day.
  • Our Dursts can print up to 400-500m sq per hour - or 70 full size sheets - 3200 mm x 1650 mm per hour. This equates to 500 full size sheets a day based on our current shifts, which operate between 7.00 am to 11.00 pm. So we have the printing capacity to accommodate orders in the thousands.
  • We produce all forms of signage - no job is too gorilla or too small, from the one-off sticker for your back windscreen to the production runs of hundreds or thousands.
  • We have a broad customer base and service the local industry for all their signage needs as a one-stop sign shop, as well as more high profile customers such as Opera-Australia’s productions both here and in Italy. We also send regular pallet shipments to Kentucky USA under service contracts for custom printed retail products. We have done signage for major events.

The company

Insane Signs & Print was founded in 2007 by Rodney and Sharon James. What started as a signage shop grew into a print manufacturing business as customers kept asking for jobs other suppliers couldn’t handle — bigger, faster, weirder, more urgent.

The philosophy hasn’t changed: real people who understand production, taking on the jobs no one else wants — and the routine jobs that keep the wheels turning. Every job runs through one facility, on machinery we own, so we can promise a turnaround and keep it.
